Thousands of Southern Movement Supporters Mark Jerusalem Day in Aden
Thousands of Southern Movement supporters expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people through a demonstration followed by a march roamed some streets of the districts of Aden on the International Jerusalem Day that coincides with Friday.
The demonstrators demanded lifting the siege on Gaza, raising Palestinian flags and others for the former state of South Yemen that merged into a unity with North Yemen in 1990 to form the recent united Republic of Yemen.
The Demonstration was staged in Al-Hashimi Square in Sheikh Othman City, while crowds of people from the neighboring governorates of Lahj, Al Dhali and Abyan also participated thickly in the demonstration.
The demonstrators chanted against the Yemeni unity and others refuse the federation that is being demanded by some South Yemenis as a reformation to the Yemeni unity after the setback created by the civil of 1994.
The event was organized by several Southern Movement factions those demand the independence and restoration of the previous state of People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen (South Yemen).
The International Jerusalem Day is an annual tradition, was organized for the first time by the Islamic Republic of Iran at the invitation of Imam Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, and then adopted by the Arab and Islamic peoples in the region.
